Veo 3.1 vs Kling 3.0: which is better and when
Google’s Veo 3.1 and Kling AI’s Kling 3.0 are two models people compare a lot. Neither wins for every purpose: Veo 3.1 is strong in clips of up to 8 seconds with dialogue and sound generated together with the picture, and Kling 3.0 reaches 15 seconds and lets you choose whether to create sound. This guide compares them by the makers’ official details, by independent rankings and by the prices here right now.

The short answer
- Choose Veo 3.1 for a clip of up to 8 seconds where speech, effects and ambience must be created together with the picture, and when you need to keep a character or product with up to 3 reference images
- Choose Kling 3.0 for a clip of 3 to 15 seconds, when you want to decide for yourself whether to create sound, or when you need a square clip
- In both models you can start from a start image and set an end image, and both make landscape and vertical clips
To give a sense of price: an 8 second clip at 1080p with sound costs ₪5.9859.76 crVeo 3.1, 1080p · 8s · with sound in Veo 3.1 and ₪5.0650.62 crKling 3.0, 1080p · 8s · with sound in Kling 3.0 right now. The prices are computed as the page loads, with the same calculation the studio shows before every generation.
Head to head
The table sums up what each model does according to the makers’ official pages, and which of those abilities are available here on the site.
| Veo 3.1 | Kling 3.0 | |
|---|---|---|
| Maker | Google DeepMind | Kling AI, part of Kuaishou |
| First released | October 2025 | February 2026 |
| Clip length | 4, 6 or 8 seconds | 3 to 15 seconds, any whole number of seconds |
| Resolution | 720p, 1080p and 4K. Google: 1080p and 4K only at 8 seconds, and here at 4 and 6 seconds too | 720p, 1080p and 4K |
| Aspect ratio | 16:9 landscape or 9:16 vertical | 16:9, 9:16 or square 1:1 |
| Sound | Generated with the picture and on by default | Optional, off by default |
| Speech | Dialogue and synced effects. Google does not describe lip sync as a separate ability | Lip synced speech in five official languages |
| Hebrew speech | Not evaluated: according to Google only English was evaluated, and other languages may work | Not on the list: speech in another language is translated into English |
| Start and end image | Yes. An end image only together with a start image | Yes. An end image only together with a start image |
| Reference images | Up to 3 images of a character, object or scene, in an 8 second clip | Not available here in Kling 3.0. Up to 7 images in Kling O3 |
Two more things worth knowing about Veo: Google marks every Veo video with a digital watermark called SynthID, its tool for identifying AI generated content, and Google writes that a prompt in English is fully supported, while other languages have not been evaluated.
Sound and dialogue
This is the difference you notice most in use. In Veo 3.1 sound is part of the clip: Google DeepMind describes dialogue, effects and ambience generated together with the picture, and it is on by default. Google’s official prompting guide for Veo 3.1 puts speech inside quotation marks, a sound effect after the word SFX, and background sound after Ambient noise.
In Kling 3.0 sound is a choice. According to Kling, when it is on the model creates dialogue, ambience and effects, with lip sync for speech. Here it is off by default, and turning it on changes the price: an 8 second clip at 1080p costs ₪3.3833.75 crKling 3.0, 1080p · 8s · no sound without sound and ₪5.0650.62 crKling 3.0, 1080p · 8s · with sound with sound right now.
In Veo 3.1, on the other hand, turning sound off does not always save money. Right now an 8 second clip at 720p costs ₪5.8658.58 crVeo 3.1, 720p · 8s · with sound with sound and ₪7.5074.99 crVeo 3.1, 720p · 8s · no sound without it. When that happens, the studio says so next to the switch.
And what about Hebrew
Neither of the two includes Hebrew on an official speech language list. Kling names five speech languages for the 3.0 series: Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and Spanish, and speech in another language is translated into English. Google writes that for Veo only English was evaluated, and other languages may work with varying results. When you need a Hebrew voiceover, create it separately in a voice model whose official language list includes Hebrew, such as Eleven v3, and add it to the clip in editing.
Length and resolution
Veo 3.1 makes clips of 4, 6 or 8 seconds. Google documents 1080p and 4K for 8 second clips, but here you can also pick them at 4 and 6 seconds. Worth knowing: with sound on, Veo 3.1 1080p and 4K are made here by enlarging a 720p clip, in a clip without reference images. Kling 3.0 makes any whole length from 3 to 15 seconds, at 720p, 1080p or 4K.
The pricing works differently too. In Veo 3.1 right now 4 seconds at 720p cost ₪5.8658.58 crVeo 3.1, 720p · 4s · with sound and 8 seconds cost ₪5.8658.58 crVeo 3.1, 720p · 8s · with sound. In Kling 3.0 the price follows the length: 5 seconds at 1080p without sound cost ₪2.1121.09 crKling 3.0, 1080p · 5s · no sound, and 15 seconds at 1080p with sound cost ₪9.4994.90 crKling 3.0, 1080p · 15s · with sound.
| Model | Settings | Price | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Veo 3.1 | 720p · 8s · with sound | ₪5.86 | 58.58 cr |
| Veo 3.1 | 1080p · 8s · with sound | ₪5.98 | 59.76 cr |
| Veo 3.1 | 4K · 8s · with sound | ₪8.91 | 89.05 cr |
| Kling 3.0 | 720p · 8s · with sound | ₪3.75 | 37.50 cr |
| Kling 3.0 | 1080p · 8s · with sound | ₪5.06 | 50.62 cr |
| Kling 3.0 | 1080p · 15s · with sound | ₪9.49 | 94.90 cr |
| Kling 3.0 | 4K · 8s · with sound | ₪12.56 | 125.60 cr |
If you need more than 15 seconds in one generation, another model fits better. Every option is in the guide AI video longer than 8 seconds.
Start and end images and reference images
In both models you can upload a start image, which the clip begins from, and an end image, which the clip ends on. In both an end image works only together with a start image. According to Google, in Veo 3.1 the transition between the start and the end image comes with sound too.
The difference is reference images: in Veo 3.1 you can attach up to 3 images of a character, object or scene so their look is kept in the clip, in an 8 second clip. That mode costs more: right now an 8 second clip at 720p with reference images costs ₪15.00149.97 crVeo 3.1, 720p · 8s · with sound.
In Kling 3.0 reference images are not available here. If you want references from Kling, choose Kling O3, which takes up to 7 reference images, or a reference video that a new shot is made from. The full explanation is in the guide how to keep the same character.
What the independent rankings say
Two independent rankings rank video models by the votes of people who compare results: an open voting leaderboard and Artificial Analysis. According to what they showed on October 11, 2026, the picture is mixed:
| Ranking | Veo 3.1 | Kling 3.0 |
|---|---|---|
| Open voting leaderboard, image to video (updated September 21, 2026) | 13 of 48 | 19 of 48, as the Pro version |
| Open voting leaderboard, text to video (updated September 21, 2026) | 12 of 48 | Not listed |
| Artificial Analysis, image to video | 12 of 36 | 20 of 36, at 1080p |
| Artificial Analysis, text to video | 19 of 29 | 16 of 29, at 1080p |
For animating an image Veo 3.1 ranks higher in both rankings, while for text to video on Artificial Analysis it is Kling 3.0 that comes first. Keep in mind that these rankings measure the general preference of voters, not your specific goal and not Hebrew. The best test is to run the same prompt in both models and compare.
What comes next for Veo and Kling
Both makers have already announced changes, and they are worth knowing before you build a workflow around one of these models.
Veo 3.1
Google announced that the preview versions of Veo 3.1, Veo 3.1 Fast and Veo 3.1 Lite in its developer API are set to shut down on October 22, 2026, and recommended Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 as their replacement. On Google’s cloud platform, the official version of Veo 3.1 is listed with a retirement date of November 17, 2026 or later. Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash is available here right now, and in the open voting leaderboard for text to video, updated on September 21, 2026, it was first of 48.
Kling 4.0
On September 30, 2026 Kling announced Kling 4.0, with clips of up to 30 seconds in one generation, and wrote that it will officially launch in October 2026. According to Kling, Kling 3.0 remains useful for shorter clips and for projects where a 15 second sequence is enough. Kling 4.0 is not offered here at the time of writing.
What to choose by use
| What you need | The model | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A short scene with dialogue | Veo 3.1 | Speech, effects and ambience are created together with the picture |
| A clip of 10 to 15 seconds in one go | Kling 3.0 | Veo 3.1 stops at 8 seconds |
| A square clip | Kling 3.0 | Veo 3.1 makes only 16:9 or 9:16 |
| The same character or product across several clips | Veo 3.1 | Up to 3 reference images. In Kling, through Kling O3 |
| Cheap drafts before a final version | Veo 3.1 Lite or Veo 3.1 Fast | The same Veo family, with the same basic options |
In the last row the prices speak for themselves: right now an 8 second clip at 720p costs ₪0.707.03 crVeo 3.1 Lite, 720p · 8s · with sound in Veo 3.1 Lite and ₪1.4114.06 crVeo 3.1 Fast, 720p · 8s · with sound in Veo 3.1 Fast. Google describes Veo 3.1 Lite as its most cost-effective video model, so test the idea there and move to Veo 3.1 only for the final version.
Both models work here from the same balance and in the same studio, so you can try both on the same idea and pay only for what you send. Before every generation the exact price is shown, and that is the amount that leaves your balance.
